How OpeningAct scoring works

One page, plain language. This is what we show a scout or promoter who asks "how do you know?"

The deck

Anyone can go up with one clip of 60 seconds or less, as long as they have no label, no agent, and fewer than 10,000 followers on their biggest platform. Submissions are reviewed before they go live. When an act crosses that line, they graduate: the clip leaves the deck and every open call on them locks.

Votes

Each person gets ten votes a day, one per act per day. Votes are weighted by distinct voters, so a hundred accounts behaving like one person count like one person.

Calls

Each person holds exactly one call, their "this is the one". It can be moved while the act is unknown. The day the act graduates, the call locks with its original date, and it sits on the caller's public record forever. Calls are scarce, so they carry the most weight.

The board

Every act's weekly score:

score = votes + 3 x open calls + 2 x distinct voters   (last 7 days)

The top of the board is the superstar of the week. Followers, streams and playlists are not inputs. The only way up is to make strangers press the button.

Booking reports

A promoter gives us an act and a city. We count:

  1. Local voters: distinct people in that city who voted for the act.
  2. Local callers: people in that city holding their one call on the act. Callers count double.
estimated_buyers = (local voters + local callers) x 2.4
demand_score = 70 x engaged share of the city's fans + a volume bonus, capped at 100
suggested_price = your price x (0.8 + 0.6 x demand_score / 100)

The 2.4 multiplier assumes each engaged fan brings on average one other person plus spillover. We tune it against real ticket sales as promoters report back.
